I'm not going to let that stop me. This prison is getting weaker every day. Someday there'll be a crack big enough for me to slip through. Besides, what kind of sister would I be if I made you do all the work? So come on, it'll be fun.

Venus Lovelace (JP: ヴィーナス Vīnasu) is a character seen in Black Dahlia's, Double's and Robo-Fortune's story ending. She is seen playing Skullgirls with Aeon.

Venus is the Trinity's restless goddess of space, wielder of the otherworldly Parasite, Abaddon. She grows tired of waiting for Mother's plan and calls upon her unwilling foothold on the outside in a small act of rebellion. Her physical form is deceptive, as the true nature and size of Venus and Abaddon exist beyond the threshold of human comprehension.

She is mentioned in Eliza's Story Mode, when Double accuses the diva of having killed her and Aeon during her reign of terror as Neferu.

Playstyle Speculation[]

The lady is only the central part of a much larger creature. If the rest of her is visible, the observer has already been engulfed. There is no safe place when fighting her as the very fabric of the universe unravels into mouths, claws, and locusts devouring her prey’s flesh from every angle.

Venus’s own body tantalizingly distorts to reveal monstrous elements. Body parts bloom from seemingly nowhere, sometimes releasing swarms of locusts to assault opponents from every angle. She can open holes in space, move and teleport in unexpected ways, or even distort the playfield itself. Even her own attacks may be displaced and modified.

Reality bites.

Trivia[]

  • It is hinted that she is one of the Divine Trinity as she is seen as one of the women pictured in the stained glass of the Divine Trinity's Grand Cathedral.
    • The webtoon comics seem to confirm it is indeed her.
  • The Ab-baddon parasites are named after Abaddon, a demon of destruction from the Book of Revelation in the Holy Bible. This is fitting, as Venus appears to be one of the main villains of the game.
    • Abaddon is also shown as the king of an army of locusts, which probably explains that part of Venus.
    • Abaddon is considered the angel of the abyss and the place Venus and her family are trapped in is called The Abyss.
    • Abaddon is also one of the compartments of Gehenna. The place that Double’s lair is named after. It can also refer to a realm of destruction and the damned.
    • The parasites name seems to also be a pun on how it’s around her abdomen.
    • There are said to be three parasites in total.
    • It has been implied in the lore that the Ab-baddon parasites and Leviathan have a connection to each other which is why Leviathan has space manipulation abilities. How they are connected is unknown.
      • Venus and Squigly share the same voice actor.
  • It is possible she is named Venus due to her body operating similarly to a Venus Fly Trap.
    • Another possibility is that she is named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love. This could be why she is very exposed and is a bit flirtatious.
    • It could also possibly be inspired by the planet Venus, as she is the goddess of space. And like the planet, she seems to look pretty at a glance but when in reality she is something that is very dangerous.
  • Venus views Double as either a butler or a maid.
  • It is unknown if her “Lovelace” surname is still canon as it is only seen in materials from early lore and the rest of her family doesn’t seem to use it.
    • As a surname, Lovelace came from a nickname for a person who was an outlaw, or was uncontrolled or unrestrained. This goes with Venus’ restless personality.
  • Venus was the 30th possible DLC character to be revealed in the Indiegogo campaign, at $600,000.
