Living Weapons are a concept in Skullgirls. They are self-aware legendary weapons forged by master weaponsmiths. Like Parasites, they come from the mysterious element Theonite, although they have comparatively limited sentience (if any at all). They can only be wielded by certain gifted individuals.

List of Living Weapons[]

  • Vice-Versa: A highly expressive hat equipped with two massive arms. It is capable of incredible feats of strength, such as carrying elephants and crushing rocks into diamonds. Cerebella is the only known person who can wield it and she has formed a mental bond with Vice-Versa. As seen in the Skullgirls webtoon, it is the most famous living weapon in the Canopy Kingdom besides the Renoir umbrellas.
  • Cloak of Damocles: A magical cloak with extra dimensional properties which can be used to store a vast array of objects within it as well as being able to pull them out from the general area. The cloak requires a lot of concentration to be used properly, with the slightest mistake having the potential to be fatal. So far, the only known person to wield the cloak is Beatrix.
  • Krieg: An umbrella-shaped Living Weapon passed down throughout the Renoir family, currently wielded by Parasoul. Using its many eyes, it can shed Napalm Tears that can float in the air and can be detonated.
  • Hungern: Another umbrella-shaped Living Weapon with an insatiable appetite, currently wielded by Umbrella. It is able to keep her power in check by consuming it, as seen in her storymode. It is infamous for being an extremely powerful, destructive weapon.
  • Eroberung: A golden umbrella-shaped rifle wielded by King Franz Renoir during the previous war. They are shown in the comics to be in Franz's office, but they seem to be out of commission.
  • Todd: A boney umbrella-shaped scythe, shown in the possession of Queen Nancy Renoir when she became the Skullgirl. They have the ability to levitate and home in on their targets. They are currently under the care of King Franz.
  • Pazuzu Whip: A yellow snake themed whip wielded by Mrs. Victoria's crime fighting alter-ego D. Violet. It can grow multiple heads and change rigidity when needed. When in her civilian identity, Pazuzu can transform into an extendable yellow pointer stick.

Trivia[]

  • The names of the Renoir's Living Weapons are the German names for the Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Krieg meaning War, Hungern meaning Famine (lit. "to hunger"), Eroberung meaning Conquest, and Todd meaning Death.
  • Living Weapons, like Parasites, manifest their powers differently from user to user. They also change size depending on the wielder.
  • Living Weapons never deteriorate or age.
  • Living Weapons can have different effects on those who use them.
  • Living Weapons give their users less great powers than parasites can by comparison, but the user doesn’t need to have a permanent bond with it.
  • Living Weapons are simply seen as another form of technology in the world of Skullgirls so living weapons and their users do not gain the same persecution as Parasites and Hosts.
  • Umbrella was originally not made for Skullgirls but was created before all the other characters and introduced the concept of Living Weapons to the lore.
